| TRADITIONAL EVENTS IN THE PILAR
FIESTAS |
| THE FRUIT
OFFERING |
| This is the compliment
of the flower offering and every year it's prettier and more people come. The
fruit offering takes place on the 13th of October at one o'clock in the Saintly
Chapel in front of the city hall. The offering is received by the archbishop,
the auxiliary bishop or the Dean and the Council. The offering is carried out
by the regional houses of Saragossa that carry the typical fruits from each
region. |
| To the Virgin we offer
everything: Aragon's wines, Asturian cider, longaniza from Monreal and Binefar,
chorizo and peppers from La Rioja, ham from Teruel, Aragonese fruits, peaches
from Calanda and Rueda de Jalón and watermelons from Alfames. The
infants of the Virgin enthusiastically place the baskets, trays of bread, fruit
cakes and wine on the stairs that lead to the Chapel. When the offering ends
the stairs are completely full because of the large amount of fruit. Afterwards
all the fruit is distributed to charitable institutions. |
| LA OFRENDA DE FRUTOS
|
| Es el complemento de la
gran ofrenda el día 12 y cada año gana en vistosidad y
participación. Esta ofrenda de frutos, tiene lugar el día 13 a la
una de la tarde en la Santa Capilla, en presencia del Ayuntamiento. Recibe la
ofrenda el arzobispo, o el Obispo Auxiliar o el Deán y Cabildo. La
ofrenda es realizada por las caras regionales de Zaragoza que portan frutos
típicos de su región. |
| A la virgen se le
ofrece de todo: vino de Aragón, sidra de Asturias, longaniza de Monreal,
y de Binéfar, chorizos y pimientos riojanos, jamón de Teruel,
frutos aragoneses, desde melocotones de Calanda y de Rueda de Jalón
hasta sandías de Alfamén dos infantes de la Virgen en una
actividad entusiasta, van colocando cestos y las bandejas de pan, frutas,
tortas y vinos, en la escalerilla de acceso a la capilla , que al terminar la
ofrenda esta repleta y desbordada por la inmensa cantidad de frutos.
Después toda la fruta se distribuye entre asociaciones de la
caridad. |
